Hurricane Matthew Update 3

Hi, friends! We have been working hard to help mobilize our national leaders who already have relationship with partners in the south of Haiti, where Hurricane Matthew hit. Our director, David, has primarily led this out with our friends and partners Rony, Dan and Jude. Jude works in Jeremie, Haiti and we will be partnering with him for emergency response.

As I wrote earlier, these Haitian guys determined the best response to this crisis would be in three ways:

-Distributing filters to help with cholera outbreak

-Distributing seeds for farmers to re-plant for a potential harvest this year

-Hiring Haitian workers to build roofs for displaced families; the families would then build the walls for the house.

We have been collecting supplies and money for the past few weeks and today two of our Konbit staff are heading down there! Please keep David and Jesselyn (our Canadian staff friend) in your prayers as they make the long travel to Jeremie and work with Jude there.

Thank you for your generous contributions over the weeks! We have 1,000 filters and buckets to bring down, as well as thousands of seeds/seedlings and money to hire Haitian workers!

We will keep you updated as this progresses!

We also want to encourage you that prevention and developing local leaders is a great way to help with natural disasters in Haiti. Our work in Haiti with Konbit does just this. Thank you for supporting us, as well!
